Testimonial
I have worked with Gillian on many occasions, most recently on Strauss’s “Vier Letzte Lieder” and Verdi’s “Requiem”. She brings to both these works her beauty of voice and warmth of tone, which she uses with great variety in conjunction with the expert use of her sound technique. To the Strauss, she brings a subtle use of rubato and intelligent use of the text, combined with excellent breath control which she uses to great advantage in Strauss’s sweeping phrases. To the Verdi, she brings her dramatic sense to bear in this most operatic of requiems, making the most of her wide vocal range and extensive palette of tonal colours. She brings to all her singing a vivid and individual musicianship which, allied to her strong personality, gives all her performances a special and impressive quality.

Chamber Ensemble of London concert:
Your numbers sounded glorious Dorothy Linell, theorbo
Thank you for your beautiful singing. I look forward to the next time! Peter Fisher, violin/conductor
Dvorak Stabat Mater, Lichfield
Gillian Rae-Walker gave a consistently high quality soprano performance throughout showing a stunning high range soaring to B flat. (Laura Borenstein, reviewer)
Verdi Requiem, Malvern
How much I enjoyed your performance in Verdi's Requiem last Saturday at Malvern. I think it was the only time I have ever heard the exposed high B flat on 'Requiem' near the end sung genuinely piano and with such purity. A truly sublime moment — goose pimples galore. Thank you so much. (unknown audience member)
Verdi Requiem, Exeter
I will not forget the beautiful singing of the Requiem section with the choir and your soaring top C over 200 voices and an orchestra of 90 - a shiver-tingling moment. (conductor)
Fauré Requiem & Rutter Requiem, Dunfermline
my sincere thanks and congratulations for Sunday’s concert. I enjoyed your performance very much and look forward to having the opportunity of working with you again. (conductor)
